The role of procurement has undergone significant changes in recent years. Disruptions to global supply chains, geopolitical tensions and growing demands in sustainability and digitalisation mean that procurement decisions are becoming increasingly important for corporate resilience and competitiveness. Procurement is becoming a strategic function that significantly contributes to the stability of supply networks and the long-term performance of organisations. Against this backdrop, the Procurement Initiative — a collaborative project between the Munich-based management consultancy H&Z and the Institute for Supply Chain Management — was launched in January 2022. The Procurement Initiative sees itself as a modern think tank at the intersection of business and policymaking, dedicated to shaping the future of procurement.
